Coaches sometimes struggle with heavyweight instruction. With Kerry McCoy's help, coaching your heavyweights has been simplified.
In this wrestling DVD, Coach McCoy shows control ties that when used and set-up correctly, will help your heavyweights keep their opponents off balance to create more scoring opportunities. Most of the attacks in the upper weight classes do not come to the legs. Strong ties and winning the hand fight are paramount to being successful for those upper weight wrestlers.
Coach McCoy starts off with instruction on positioning and its importance. He then teaches technique on closing the gap on your opponent and entering into control ties. He walks you through three fundamental control ties, with variations of each, including: collar ties, the baseball grip, underhooks and 2-on-1. McCoy breaks down each tie, illuminating the nuances of each with thorough explanations and demonstrations.
With each tie, you will learn how to setup opponents, while keeping them off balance and guessing. These setups are easy to teach and allow your wrestlers to open up their opponents to arm drags, body locks, front headlocks, high crotches, double and single legs and other effective takedowns. You will also learn how to counter your opponent's attacks and learn counter and short offense that will lead to easy points. As many coaches know, a few easy points can often be enough for heavyweights to secure victory.
Coach shows the adjustments made for the lightweights whom need deeper shots and the upper weights that need the power positions. In fact, many of the techniques you will see in this video can easily be used by your entire team.
Coach McCoy is known throughout the world for his dominant heavyweight wrestling style. In this video he shares the techniques and secrets to successful heavyweight wrestling from the feet. Use his knowledge to develop the skills needed to dominate ties and control your opponent on your feet.
